At WHSV we don't just restore & respray bodywork, re-trim interiors, rebuild engines and whatever else it takes to transform a dearly loved vehicle back to it's former glory. We are so passionate about your project, you would believe it belonged to us!. Everything we do get's 110% effort and no detail is missed so you can be sure we are all singing from the same book every step of the project.
We also supply parts and components and have full workshop facilities for rebuilds, full and part restorations, chassis repairs on a chassis jig, MOT, mechanical rebuilds, rewiring and all electrical work. We also have the ability to fabricate unavailable panels & parts if the need arises although preffering to source first.
Take a look at our completion of the original Porsche Gulf race transporter, a 1971 Mercedes, discovered in a sorry state now having had a rather meticulous restoration.
The ROFGO Gulf Collection is surely the most remarkable accumulation of globally-significant racing cars to be assembled for many years. It comprises of no less than 38 of the most prominent race cars and single-seaters ever to compete in the legendary colours of Gulf Oil.
To make the collection complete there was a certain piece missing. The transporter. The original transporter was located in California on a farm looking very sorry for itself and painted in it's last livery for Rothmans Porsche.
The transporter was shipped over to us to be restored back to it's original condition and team livery in order for it to take it's pride of position within the remarkable collection.
By far the largest, not to mention most imposing vehicle in the ROFGO Collection, this magnificent Mercedes-Benz 0317 was the transporter for the Gulf-JW Automotive team in 1971. It was acquired directly from the Porsche works team, who had commissioned Stuttgart based company Robert Schenk to build it. It was to be the vehicle that carried the Gulf-JWA Porsche 917s to Le Mans that year - including the ROFGO Collections's chassis '026'.
It lived an interesting life after this too, returning to Porsche, going on to be re-liveried in Martini, Essex and Rothmans colours - used right through to the 962 era. It then moved to the USA and, after being sold on, deteriorated quickly. It has since been restored to its Gulf Livery - at which point the various colour schemes were re-discovered under the layers of old paint.
The transporter now relives it's original duties transporting amongst others our magnificent 917 for our ROFGO Racing team which was established to prepare and provide race support to the cars from the ROFGO Collection.
The team is co-headed by former World Endurance Champion Stuart Hall and highly experienced Le Mans Crew Chief James Chown, in conjuction with multiple World Championship Winning former Aston Martin Racing Engineer Stuart Gale and his Venture Engineering Company, all have extensive knowledge of the various aspects of the motorsport industry.
ROFGO Racing currently compete in the Creventic 24hr Series with their Mercedes AMG GT3. They also compete in all the major historic races around the globe, including Monaco Historic, Le Mans Classic and the world-renowned Goodwood Revival.
I began this collection back in 2008 when I bought an ex-works Gulf Ford GT40. From then, I have developed the collection, which now comprises of 38 stunning cars & the original transporter, all in the iconic Gulf colours.
Few team liveries throughout history have experienced greater world class endurance racing success than Gulf racing's combination of blue and orange. During the height of the Gulf -JW Automotive team's success at the World Sportscar Championship -1968-1969 I became a lifelong fan and this collection has been put together to protect a special heritage
